ACCA stands for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Three major courses are offered by ACCA. These include;

  • ACCA Professional Scheme
  • Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
  • Foundations in Accountancy (FIA)
  • Certificate and Diploma in International Financial Reporting Standards.

To register as an ACCA student, one must have one of the following qualifications from a recognized university/institution;

  • Two principle passes at A’level
  • Five Credits at O’level including Maths and English
  • A Bachelors Degree or Diploma

The number of exemptions you can claim will depend on how closely your previous qualifications match the content of the ACCA syllabus. For instance, if you have completed a relevant degree from an ACCA-accredited university, you may be eligible to claim exemptions up to all nine exams within the Fundamentals level.

The examinations are held twice a year i.e. June and December. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA-UK) is the examining body authorized to set and mark exams for all ACCA students globally.
